Paul Anthony Wood - “Recalling”

Paul is an artist who has worked privately at his craft throughout his entire life, constantly experimenting with different mediums and techniques. He has only recently started to make his works available to the public. His work is meant to depict snapshots of memories of places or things from his travels and everyday events. The distressed and imperfect representations of visual elements are intended to illustrate how something can be recalled without perfect clarity and still maintain the beauty or sense of wonder from the original experience. Some memories are filled with distinct visual cues while others are created from a sense of a place. Those cues are what direct Paul to assemble or impart specific images or marks to create his art.

Having recently moved to beautiful Fort Langley I have started to capture images around me that inspire me and make me feel at home. The river, the town, the history... all of these elements hold memories for me having lived here for a few years in my youth. Paul Anthony Wood - Bird Watching

Always a fan of birdwatching Paul has created several large mixed media portrait pieces of some of his favourite subjects. Each bird is created from multiple sections of an image representing the repeated viewing of the creatures as they reveal their identities through habits and traits they exhibit.
